Medstead Depot Omnibus Group (MDOG) is one of three separate and operationally independent bus preservation projects in Hampshire and West Sussex that are administered by the Working Omnibus Project Limited (WOMP) - the other are the City of Portsmouth Preserved Transport Depot and the Stedham Garage Group.

Our aims is to conserve and preserve artefacts relating to road passenger transport in Southern England and through our work as a educational charity, to extend this knowledge more widely.

Days out with the Chawton Circular

For seven Sundays this summer we will be running free vintages bus services from Alton Station to Chawton Village: 6th May, 3rd  June, 1st July, 5th August, 2nd September and 7th October.

This service provides passengers with an opportunity to visit Chawton village where the main attraction is Jane Austen’s House: www.jane-austens-house-museum.org.uk

Chawton also has the Greyfriar public house, providing lunches: www.greyfriar-chawton.co.uk  and Cassandra’s Cup - a bistro: www.cassandrascup.co.uk

There is also a children’s playground in the village.

Alton has many shops and public houses open on Sundays and has the Mid Hants Railway, a heritage steam locomotive service to Medstead and Four Marks, Ropley and Arlesford: www.watercressline.co.uk

There are several vintage bus journeys from Alton to Chawton, providing you with an opportunity to stay over and get a later bus back.  See the timetable on events page.

In addition to the above events, vehicles from the MDOG collection attend other events through the south. Full details on our events page.
